Political Fantasies: Thalassocracy

Political Fantasies is a series that takes names for governments and plays around with them to see how far they can be pulled. In the tradition of Strange Nations, the results of each exploration can be dropped into your setting with little-to-no adaptation required. 

This volume explores thalassocracy, or "rule by the sea." The first section discusses the common traits of maritime empires--the default meaning of thalassocracy--so that you can better design them for your own settings. The second section is more fantastical, exploring how a thalassocracy might be realized in space and playing with a few short cultures that you can drop into your setting and alter or expand on as necessary.
